March 7, 2009 - REVIEW: Read and Share DVD Bible

The Read and Share DVD Bible is a delightful biblical DVD series for children. I recently had the privilege of reviewing Volume I and was very impressed. The animations are of excellent quality with rich, vivid colors. Each three minute story is pleasantly narrated with soothing music accompanying in the background. I appreciated how the background music was at just the right volume level – it didn’t overpower or take away from the stories at all. When I first saw how short each vignette was, I wasn’t sure if this would be a very “meaty” biblical resource, but I was surprised. Although each bible story is only about three minutes long, the stories are accurate, complete and hold a young viewer’s attention.

I really like the way this series includes bible stories that many other dvd’s seem to skip over (Rachel, Laban, Jacob wrestling with God, Jesus tempted by satan, the prodigal son, etc). This dvd has an “auto start” feature which means little ones can put the dvd in by themselves and it will start on its own. There are also coloring pages included in the bonus material which means you are getting more than your money’s worth from this dvd! Perfect for preschoolers and early elementary age, this dvd series would make an excellent addition to your family collection!
