A Hope Undaunted

A Hope Undaunted is the first book in Julie Lessman’s new series, The Winds of Change coming from Revell Books this September.

This was a fun book to read and moved at the perfect pace for me.  Katie O’Connor is a spit-fire of a woman who is used to men falling all over her and giving in to her every whim. She likes the power she has over her rich fiancée whom she has wrapped around her little finger.

When fate brings a childhood nemesis back into her life, Katie is stunned to discover that the very grown up Luke (Cluny) McGee, doesn’t seem to fall prey to her feminine wiles.  Gone is the puny, wiry boy she knew from grade school, replaced with a very handsome, charming, almost irresistible man who matches Katie verbally jab for jab.

As punishment for her ongoing rebellious behavior, Katie is forced by her father to volunteer at the Boston Children’s Aid Society where she discovers that Luke McGee is working as the assistant director.  As the tension builds between Katie and Luke, Katie finds herself fighting feelings of attraction to the very man she thought she despised.

Although her heart is set on marrying her fiancee' Jack, the waters are muddied when Luke shows a side of himself Katie never thought she would see.

A very interesting, entertaining read from Julie Lessman.
