God Loves Single Moms

This book would make a wonderful gift for the single mom(s) in your life as they need all of the support and encouragement they can get!  In fact, I personally found this book so inspiring, that I am giving my copy to a good friend who I know will be encouraged by this title.

The author, Teresa Whitehurst, writes from personal experience as a single mom who has “been there” and knows the challenges that moms doing it all on their own face.  Often trying to be “Superwoman”, single moms usually forget to nurture themselves and this book is packed with both practical ideas and spiritual insights to help them do just that and not feel guilty about it.

The author includes advice and ideas on where to find support as a single mom, how to get organized, how to be financially responsible and how to handle behavior issues with the children.  There is also a chapter on how to deal with what may be a tense situation with your child’s father.

I really like how this book also includes Scripture references, prayers and reminders to single moms that they are not alone.  Single moms will be motivated to lean on God in the hard times and trust Him to help them.

About The Book:

Practical and Spiritual Encouragement for Single Moms
A comprehensive guide to traversing single motherhood successfully
Life for a single mother can often feel overwhelming, frustrating and out-of-control: The juggling act of childcare, providing income, running the home and enjoying quality time with her family can leave her feeling pulled in all directions—and with little time to nurture herself emotionally, mentally or spiritually.

Teresa Whitehurst is a clinical psychologist who has experienced the challenges of single motherhood firsthand and tackles these pressing issues in her new book God Loves Single Moms. With practical pointers, professional expertise and spiritual insights, God Loves Single Moms is an encouraging and comprehensive guide to traversing single motherhood successfully.

From finagling finances to putting food on the table, from learning how to take charge of her family's future to seeking solace in God's love and guidance, Whitehurst helps women learn how to manage the responsibilities of being a single mom with confidence. She knows all too well how much pressure women are apt to put on themselves, so Whitehurst also encourages women to learn the necessity for making time for themselves and nurturing their own dreams.

Some of the topics that God Loves Single Moms explores include:
·    How to cultivate and embrace the necessary leadership skills as a single mom
·     Setting short- and long-term goals for her personal and her family's growth
·     Finding the courage to ask for what she needs from others
·     How to recognize her child's physical, spiritual, and psychological needs
·     Devising a behavioral plan for her children and effective ways to discipline
·     Evaluate her financial situation and make plans for saving and money-management
·     Learning to nurture her dreams for the future
·     Becoming aware of any unrealistic expectations readers may be placing on themselves
·     Identifying helpful vs. unhelpful guilt and worry
·     What to look for to know whether she's providing herself with adequate self-care

Each chapter looks at a different challenge and includes Scripture, prayers, questions for reflection, and inspiring stories from other single moms. There is also a thorough inventory questionnaire that helps readers take an in-depth look at the various aspects of their personal and family life and gauge areas where they are succeeding and areas where they would like to see improvement.

Filled with encouragement, compassion and contagious enthusiasm, Teresa Whitehurst helps readers discover how to make single parenthood a success through her practical tips, professional insights, and the knowledge that they are truly loved by God.
