Mariette Puttnam, 18 years old and newly graduated from boarding school, returns home to her pampered life in Meadow Grove, Georgia.
Mariette’s parents have high hopes for their daughter who they’ve pushed to be well bred and immaculately mannered. Mariette’s mother especially, hopes her daughter will climb the social ladder and land herself a wealthy husband.
Mariette isn’t sure what she wants to do with her life, but she isn’t thinking marriage. At least not until she meets Thayne Scott, her father’s handsome employee. Something about Thayne settles the restlessness in Mariette’s soul and he quickly gets under her skin and permeates her every waking thought.
Young and impulsive, Mariette and Thayne begin a whirl whind romance that nearly kills Mariette’s parents when they hear through the rumor mill, that Mariette is seeing a young man far below her social status.
This story is full of romance, adventure and excitement but it’s also full of disappointment, heartbreak and hardships. Young love, coming of age and growing up too fast are all incorporated into this wonderful story that readers will find themselves easily immersed in from the very first chapter.
This is the first book of Eve Marie Everson’s that I’ve read and I loved everything about it - even the cover! I found it at my local library and am very glad I checked it out. I am looking forward to reading her other titles.
