The Miracle of Mercy Land

Add To Your Kindle:

The Miracle of Mercy Land is a story about being given the power to change the past.

Mercy Land works as the assistant editor of the Banner, the only newspaper available in the little town of Bay City, Alabama.  When her boss Doc, who is also her mentor, finds a mysterious book on his desk that shows up out of nowhere, things begin to change for Mercy and Doc and those whose secrets are hidden in the book.

Keeping the book a secret at first, Doc and Mercy spend hours upon hours looking into the lives of others and trying to find out where the book is from.  They have no idea what its purpose is, nor why they’ve been chosen to receive it.  Not only does the mysterious book reveal the paths that people have chosen, but what they have left behind, and sometimes the knowledge is more than Mercy and Doc can bear.

This story is mystical and mysterious but for some reason I found it hard to connect with.  It was a little confusing to understand and some parts felt just a little too drawn out and slow moving for my personal tastes.

As some other reviewers have commented, we never really find out what the book is or why it showed up and readers may find themselves confused and left hanging when they get to the last page of this story.

I wouldn’t base my opinion of the author solely on this book alone though; I would definitely be interested in reading something else by her.  For whatever reason, this one just didn’t work for me.
