A Log Cabin Christmas

Just in time for cold and dreary winter days!  Settle in with a steaming hot cup of coffee, tea or cocoa and enjoy a wonderful collection of American Pioneer romances penned by an impressive assortment of well-loved authors.  This book is perfect for the holiday season and would make a charming gift for the reader on your list.

The cover has pretty foil stamped lettering and the page edges are ragged and deckled (a decorative, textured edging) which gives this book a wonderful “old-fashioned” feel.  At the end of each story there is a page with more information about the author.  The front cover also has a sturdy foldable flap which doubles as a handy bookmark.
This timeless collection of 9 stories includes:
1) SNOW ANGEL by Margaret Brownley
2) THE CHRISTMAS SECRET by Wanda E. Brunstetter
4) A STAR IN THE NIGHT by Liz Johnson
5) THE COURTING QUILT by Jane Kirkpatrick is set in 1867 Oregon.
6) UNDER HIS WINGS by Liz Tolsma
7) DOGTROT CHRISTMAS by Michelle Ule
9) CHRISTMAS SERVICE by Erica Vetsch

Faith, hope and love along with trust in God are reoccurring themes in this novella.

Each Christmas story is centered around a log cabin of some kind and readers are taken back to the 1800’s with a variety of historical romance from each author.   One of my favorite stories in this collection is The Dogtrot Christmas.  You can read more about how this story came to be by visiting this site.  I wasn’t sure what a “dogtrot” cabin was so I looked it up and found a picture.  I really enjoyed the blend of cultures in this story and the way the author incorporated Spanish culture with the Christmas message.

I highly recommend this novella for anyone who loves historical fiction, but especially those who are looking for a Christmas  themed historical romance.  Each author brings something a little different with her story and that makes for a nice variety.
Disclosure of Material Connection:
I received this book free from Barbour Publishing.  I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Experience Christmas through the eyes of adventuresome settlers who relied on log cabins built from trees on their own land to see them through the cruel forces of winter. Discover how rough-hewed shelters become a home in which faith, hope, and love can flourish. Marvel in the blessings of Christmas celebrations without the trappings of modern commercialism where the true meaning of the day shines through. And treasure this exclusive collection of nine Christmas romances penned by some of Christian fiction’s best-selling authors.
