The Names of God Bible

This beautiful hardcover study bible is a must have for anyone wanting to study and gain deep understanding of the names of God.

The pages are elegant and rich in appearance and the print is clear.  This bible is very "meaty" and in-depth; full of information such as the background of Hebrew words, and the meanings of over 10,000 *names of God, complete with a pronunciation guide.

This Bible cannot (and should not be) skimmed through; the wealth of information covered is incredible!  It is one of the most thorough bibles I can ever remember seeing and is perfect for both personal study or a group setting.

I would strongly suggest starting with the introduction page and also the welcome page.  *In the introduction, Ann explains why she refers to the titles of God as “names” and why it was impossible to translate every single title of God that is found in scripture.  I think the introduction is extremely important to read because Ann shares how she determined what information went into this bible.  Also, the welcome page is vital because it shows you how to use this bible efficiently and get the most out of the information included.

With endorsements by such respected men as Billy Graham and James Kennedy, I knew this would be a version I could trust to be accurate.  The God’s Word Translation is known for taking the original texts and putting them into very clear, easy to understand language while preserving the reliability of scripture.

If you would like to know more about the translation, you can visit this site.

I really like how Ann expounds upon praying to God using each of His names.  Prayer becomes much more intimate when you are using a specific name of God and also know the precise meaning and background.  There is also a topical prayer guide in the back which is organized by subject so you can look up names and scriptures to go along with whatever you are praying about.

I also appreciate that Ann included promises from the Bible that link to each name.  Hours and hours of study can be gleaned from this bible; it abounds with information that will deepen the knowledge of anyone seeking to know God more.  This bible is well organized (including footnotes) and the name index is also very handy along with the reading plan that is included.  There are sidebars which offer additional information about biblical characters that appear in the chapter being read.
This bible is a nice size, not too bulky or thick for the amount of information that is packed within its pages.  I personally prefer a hardcover study bible for durability and this one will get a lot of use!

Disclosure of Material Connection:

I received this book free from Revell.  I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
