Love's Reckoning

Silas Ballantyne has his hands full from the start. His new apprenticeship will not only affect his future career, but will decide his wife as well. He arrives at his master’s home, to a newborn babe, and two sisters – one of whom will be given to him in marriage. Elspeth, who has borne an illigitmate child, has plans to make Silas her own, but she’s also aware of the competition she faces with her sister Eden.

The two are like oil and water, and their feelings for Silas cause more tension in their already strained relationship. Eden is a bit of an underdog in this story, with Elspeth being the louder, outspoken one. This story is full of exciting twists, turns, secrets and lies. There are a lot of characters involved, but the author does a great job of working them in and making everything blend well. This is the first book in a series and I will be interested to see where the author takes her readers in the next book.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Revell. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
