The Promise is the second novel in the Restoration series. It begins seven months after the ending of The Dance. Jim and Marilyn Anderson are doing much better, but things are beginning to unravel in their son Tom’s marriage. He’s been out of work for five months and hiding it from everyone. The Promise reveals the power of a father’s love and a wife’s faith to rescue a marriage on the verge of collapse.
CAFE LILY'S REVIEW:
Back in April I was able to review the first book in The Restoration Series, The Dance. You can check out that review here.
The second book, The Promise, focuses on Jim and Marilyn's son and daughter in law who are having marriage issues. Tom has been living a lie and in a brief moment, everything comes crashing down and is completely exposed. His wife Jean, isn't sure they can rebuild the trust that has been lost. She also isn't sure if she wants to.
This new marriage series not only offers readers stories they can relate to, but marriage advice as well. The characters are flawed, vulnerable and real, yet the way they work through their issues are great examples to follow. The books are not written in a preachy tone, yet convey the importance of God being first and foremost in every marriage relationship.
You can feel the characters emotions in these books, and relate to what they are experiencing. Every single time I pick up a Dan Walsh novel, I know I am in for an excellent read. The Promise did not disappoint and I cannot wait to see what the third novel brings.
Although this book easily stands alone, I do suggest reading these in order. They are so good, you won't want to miss anything!
